Empowering enhanced situational awareness and streamlined emergency response with detailed maps and facility information.

With high accuracy raw position measurements on mobile phones now being provided to Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs) with many 9-1-1 calls, telecommunicators understand the need and value of indoor maps.  A dot on a map with no additional structure information provides little actionable context to telecommunicators and first responders.  Indoor maps provide actionable location context for enhancing situational awareness, reducing response times, and ultimately saving more lives during emergency situations.

RapidSOS is partnering with GeoComm, an industry leader in public safety location-based solutions and Esri to help bring 911 personnel an ultra-actionable view into emergency locations that can help streamline the response process and reduce response times.

This solution combines the contextual value of GeoComm’s indoor maps with improved 911 caller location data through the RapidSOS Platform, and Esri’s industry-leading foundational mapping technology. With RapidSOS Portal, a secure web application for Emergency Communication Centers, and GeoComm indoor maps, 911 telecommunicators can access and relay location details to first responders in the field.  This information may include:

  • Building footprints, with exterior entrances clearly defined
  • Interior rooms identified by name/number, and color coded by type
  • Locations of elevators, escalators, stairs, and interior doors clearly identified
  • Additional point locations for emergency response such as AED, fire extinguisher, fire riser, and security cameras

Please complete this form to have a member of our team contact you with more information and to get started today creating indoor maps for key buildings in your response area.

Indoor Mapping: Why do I need it?

By now you have probably heard the statistic that today approximately 80 percent of all 9-1-1 calls originate from mobile phones. More and more people are forgoing wireline telephone service and are relying on mobile phone service exclusively. Indoor maps are needed to fully unlock the life-saving potential of indoor geodetic positions of mobile phones during 9-1-1 calls that the industry has worked so hard for to create.
