ACOG: Public Safety GIS Data Distribution

The 9-1-1 Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) and GeoComm needed to synchronize GIS data updates made by both of their GIS departments to the ACOG regional data set. In addition, the most current GIS data set needed to be distributed to all 22 regional PSAPs covering an area of 3,000 square miles.

Case Study
Nebraska: Statewide GIS data and Mapped ALI Interoperability

In the early 2000s the State of Nebraska recognized that public safety answering points (PSAPs) would need GIS data and software for wireless Phase I and II call locating. This is different from other states that determined mapping was only beneficial for Phase II calls. The Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) recognized that other state agencies and local governments could also benefit from the creation of county by county GIS data for use by the entire state – interoperable GIS.
